Where are fiber optic couplers used?
1 Alias: Fiber optic coupler, also known as fiber optic adapter, also known as fiber optic flange.
2 Definition: A device for detachable (movable) connection between optical fibers. It precisely connects the two end faces of optical fibers so that the light energy output from the emitting optical fiber can be coupled to the receiving optical fiber to the maximum extent, and Allowing it to intervene in the optical link to minimize the impact on the system.
3 classification: different classifications according to optical fiber
SC fiber optic coupler: applied to SC fiber optic interface. If it is 8 thin copper contacts, it is an RJ-45 interface. If it is a copper pillar, it is an SC fiber optic interface.
LC optical fiber coupler: used in LC optical fiber interface, connector to connect SFP module, commonly used in routers.
FC fiber coupler: used in FC fiber interface, generally used on the ODF side.
ST optical fiber coupler: used in ST optical fiber interface, often used in optical fiber distribution frames.
2: What is the role of optical fiber coupler?
1. Convert optical signals into electrical signals
2. Couple multi-mode signals into single-mode signals
3. Make the cross-section fiber holes of the two fiber optic connectors conductive
4. Connect the two sets of optical signals to each other
Three: How does the fiber optic coupler work?
Optical fiber coupler is a device for detachable (movable) connection between optical fibers. It precisely connects the two end faces of optical fibers so that the light energy output by the emitting optical fiber can be coupled to the receiving optical fiber to the maximum extent. And allow it to intervene in the optical link to minimize the impact on the system. For a waveguide optical fiber coupler, it is generally a component with a Y-shaped branch, and the optical signal input from an optical fiber can be divided into equal parts. When the opening angle of the coupler branch increases, the light leakage into the cladding will increase, resulting in increased excess loss. Therefore, the opening angle is generally within 30°, so the length of the waveguide fiber coupler cannot be too short.
